Chairperson

Duties and

1. Presides at all general and special meetings of USA Wrestling - Ohio. 2. Serves as the principal executive officer of USA Wrestling - Ohio. 3. Reports to the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership and the Board of

Directors on the activities and accomplishments of USA Wrestling - Ohio at the Annual Meeting.

4. Oversees the execution of the regulations (i.e., the Constitution and Bylaws) of USA Wrestling - Ohio.

5. Carries out the directives of the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership and the Board of Directors as passed at the Annual Meeting and other general and special meetings of USA Wrestling - Ohio.

6. Serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of USA Wrestling - Ohio.

7. Assists in resolving disputes and disciplinary issues between various parties within USA Wrestling - Ohio.

8. Has final approval on the appointment of all non-elected positions within USA Wrestling - Ohio, including all National and Dual Meet Team Leaders, National and Dual Meet Team Head and Assistant Coaches, and the National Coaches Education Program (NCEP) Coordinator for Ohio.

9. Is authorized to sign USA Wrestling - Ohio checks.

10. Represents USA Wrestling - Ohio at various State, Regional, and National events and meetings, including the Central Kids/16U and Junior Regional Tournaments, the 16U /Junior National

Championships, and the State Leaders Summit.

11. Serves as a Delegate for USA Wrestling - Ohio at all Council meetings and the National Convention of USA Wrestling.

12. Responsible for the overall direction of the programs of USA Wrestling - Ohio as well as their financial viability.

13. Responsible for reporting the activities of USA Wrestling - Ohio to the National Office on an annual basis or as requested.

14. Responsible for ensuring that USA Wrestling - Ohio maintains its status as the Ohio affiliate for USA Wrestling (the National Governing Body for Amateur Wrestling) by fulfilling all of the obligations of the Affiliation Agreement.

15. Prepares and/or approves all materials for posting on the USA Wrestling - Ohio web site.

16. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership and/or the Board of Directors.

10. Tournament responsibility as follows:

• Responsible for assisting Tournament Directors when necessary to ensure a smooth-running tournament

• Responsible for supplying master forms and other tournament related items that are provided by USAW-Ohio

• Responsible for collection of tournament paperwork after the tournament and reporting on those numbers at the annual meeting.

11. Supervises the preparation and distribution of the annual schedule of USA Wrestling - Ohio tournaments.

12. Recommends the sites for all USA Wrestling - Ohio State

Championships. Final site is voted on at General Membership meeting.

13. Serves as the Co-Tournament Director for all USA Wrestling - Ohio State Championships.

4. Presents the minutes of the previous Annual Meeting for approval at each Annual Meeting..

5. Serves as a member of the Executive Committee of USA Wrestling - Ohio.

6. Assists the Chairperson with association correspondence.

7. Sends a copy of the Annual meeting minutes and the list of Officers and Directors to the National Office. Updates of Officer information are also sent, as required.

8. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership, the Board of Directors, and/or the Chairperson. 9. Responsible for modifying, sending, and collecting contracts for Freestyle/ Greco qualifier tournaments and the State Freestyle/ Greco tournaments.

10. Responsible for maintaining the succession plan information as submitted by the USAW-OH board and any other designated

Duties and

Responsibilities

1. Serves as the principal financial officer of USA Wrestling - Ohio. 2. Maintains all of the financial records of USA Wrestling - Ohio. 3. Serves as a member of the Executive Committee of USA Wrestling - Ohio.

4. Prepares and presents a detailed financial statement for USA Wrestling - Ohio at the Annual Meeting.

5. Prepares an annual budget of anticipated state income and expenses for presentation at the Annual Meeting of USA Wrestling - Ohio.

6. Is authorized to sign USA Wrestling - Ohio checks.

7. Files all necessary tax forms as required or requested by the IRS and Ohio tax authorities in a timely manner.

8. Ensures that all necessary paperwork to maintain the IRS Section 501 (c)(3) status of USA Wrestling - Ohio is completed and filed in a timely manner.

9. Ensures that all compensation and expense reimbursement amounts are authorized, calculated correctly, supported by receipts when appropriate, and paid accurately.

10. Prepares and distributes exemption certificates for Ohio sales tax when requested.

11. Provides financial and tax information about USA Wrestling - Ohio to individuals and other entities on an “as needed” basis.

12. Reviews all team budgets for accuracy and fiscal soundness prior to forwarding copies to the Chairperson.

13. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USA Wrestling Ohio membership, the Board of Directors, and/or the Chairperson.

Duties and

Responsibilities Updated 11-2024

1. Reports to the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership and Board of Directors on membership and registration numbers for the previous year and other issues.

2. Serves as a member of the Executive Committee of USA Wrestling- Ohio.

3. Prior to or at the beginning of each fiscal year, reviews the online processes needed to complete registration for membership, Event Sanctions and Club Charters and makes sure they are correct and completed by the appropriate due date.

4. Reviews all Event Sanction and Club Charter Applications to determine if they are correctly completed for the clubs and

tournament sponsors by the appropriate due date and reports as requested.

5. Establishes procedures for the timely completion of the necessary applications from clubs and tournaments.

6. Advises the Chairperson from time to time regarding the numbers of competitor’s and coach’s cards sold and the numbers of Event Sanctions and Club Charter Applications processed.

7. At the end of each fiscal year, audits all competitor’s and coach’s cards sold and all Event Sanctions and Club Charter Applications processed and reports the numbers to the Chairperson and to the National Office of USA Wrestling.

8. Validates online registrants verification of age, when necessary. 9. Reviews the rosters of all Dual Meet and National Team wrestlers and coaches prior to the competition to ensure that everyone has a current USAW card.

10. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership, the Board of Directors, and/or the Chairperson. 11. When there is a co-chair, one is designated as the State Chair and one as the MVKWA chair. The State Chair has responsibility for all functions as listed above except for those relating to MVKWA. The co-chair is responsible for membership, club charters and event sanctions for MVKWA.

12. When there is a co-chair, each co-chair is responsible to assist the other in performance of duties if the need arises.

13. Co-ordinate with the Media Director to post a list of all sanctioned events in Ohio and also a list of all chartered clubs.

MVKWA Director

1. Serve as liaison between USA Wrestling – Ohio and Miami Valley Kids Wrestling Association (MVKWA).

2. Promotes Folkstyle wrestling development and works with the Folkstyle Development Director to accomplish this.

3. Reports to the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership and the Board of Directors on the activities and accomplishments of MVKWA.

4. Assists the Chairperson in resolving disputes and disciplinary issues concerning USA Wrestling – Ohio and MVKWA.

5. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership, the Board of Directors, and/or the Chairperson. 6. Identifies and submits items of interest to the website for marketing, educational, informational purposes.

7. Responsible for ensuring that the MVKWA Registration Director (a MVKWA position) works with the Membership chairperson to ensure that all clubs, coaches and athletes have obtained their appropriate membership levels

8. Responsible for ensuring that the MVKWA Registration Director works with the Membership Director to ensure that all events are sanctioned as required.

8. Works with Directors to ensure that the coaches selected for each style adhere to the guidelines established for all National Teams (Dual and Fargo for all age groups).

9. Ensures that the National Team selection process is adhered to at all Age levels.

10. In charge of overseeing the election process of the members of the CC. In charge of appointing 2 members to the CC himself/ herself that will be aligned with the same term limit as the CC Director.

1. Supervises all programs, events, and teams that involve wrestlers in the 16U and Junior Age Divisions.

2. Provides any necessary information to report on activities and make recommendations to the Coaches’ Council Director to share at the

3. Assists the Freestyle, Greco and Women’s Directors in the selection of coaches for the 16U and Junior National Duals and 16U and Junior National teams for Chairperson’s approval. Part of this assistance

includes verifying USAW coach’s cards and NCEP Certification.

4. Assists the 16U, Junior and Women’s Dual Meet and 16U, Junior and Women’s National Team Leaders in the preparation and submission of detailed budgets.

5. Oversees and/ or assists Freestyle and Greco Directors in the selection of wrestlers for the National Teams at Petition Committee and other meetings, making sure that both state and national protocols are being met, including the process of filling replacement positions.

6. Oversees and /or assists in the selection of National Team Training sites, as well as the development, organization, and running of training camp. 7. Works with, and makes recommendation to the Freestyle, Greco and Women’s Directors to ensure that the needs of all age groups within the organization are being met.

8. Serves as liaison between the Executive Board and Freestyle, Greco and Women’s Directors.

9. Supervises the actions of 16U and Junior Dual Meet and 16U and Junior National team leaders.

10. Assists in the registering, organization, and scheduling for training camps, travel and housing for National Teams.

3. Reports to the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership and the Board of Directors on activities and accomplishments of Boys’ 14U teams and wrestlers at the Annual Meeting.

4. Verify USAW coach’s card and NCEP Certification information on all Boys’ 14U Age Division coaches.

5. Supervises the activities of the Boys’ 14U Dual Meet Team Leader. 6. Assists the Boys’ 14U Dual Meet Leader in the preparation and submission of detailed budget.

7. Oversees the selection of all wrestlers, based on placement at the 14U/ Kids State Tournament, for the Boys’ 14U Dual Meet Team. 8. Oversees the selection of all replacement wrestlers for the Boys’ 14U Dual Meet Team according to established criteria.

9. Participates in all disciplinary actions and hearings involving Boys’ 14U / Kids Age Division wrestlers.

10. Represents USA Wrestling - Ohio at the Central Kids/14U Regional Tournament and at the Boys’ 14U Dual Meet Championships or assigns a replacement, approved by the State Chairperson, if unable to attend.

11. Represents USA Wrestling - Ohio on the USAW Kids/14U National Council or assigns a replacement, approved by the State Chairperson, if unable to attend.

1. Encourages OPEN level wrestlers to participate in USA sanctioned events, either by wrestling or officiating.

membership and the Board of Directors on matters affecting the Open Age Division including special budget requests and

developmental programs. This includes input from the Coaches’ Council.

3. If possible, host a tournament to encourage this level of wrestling. 4. Attends the Board – Age Director meeting, which is held, as a minimum, once per year prior to the Executive Board meeting to report on activities and make recommendations for changes and new items to consider for the Open Age Division.

5. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USA Wrestling-Ohio membership, the Board of Directors, and/or the Chairperson.

6. Identifies and submits items of interest to the website for publication; e.g., team photos, results, action shots, etc. for the Open Age division.

Each Director will perform the following functions – one for the northern part of the State and one for the southern part of the State. Columbus is considered as part of the south.

1. Assigns a Head Operations Official for each USA Wrestling - Ohio tournament.

1. Responsible for generating and submitting a fiscally sound budget by noon on the Friday before the state tournament for the corresponding age division and collecting funds that will cover all costs associated with the team and event with the exception of the entry fee, which USAW-OH will pay.

2. Responsible for paying all incurred expenses within three weeks of the conclusion of the dual meet event. Failure to do so will result in a fine of the entry fee amount.

3. Working with the appropriate Style type Director to find

information on potential coaches for the team and make

recommendations for Head and Assistant Coaches to the

Chairperson.

4. Set up a procedure for selecting team members and replacements 5. Organize camp (if necessary), transportation to and from the event, accommodations, and assists the coaching staff in submitting team rosters in compliance with National Event rules.

6. Distribute and collect all necessary paperwork including entry forms, emergency releases, discipline policies and any other

pertinent information that might be necessary.

7 Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership, the Board of Directors, and/or the Chairperson.

National Team Leader

(minimum of three for 16U, Junior, and Girls’ 16U/ Junior National Teams

How Selected

Appointed by the Chairperson based on a recommendation from the appropriate Style Director.

Term of Office

From the time of appointment until all duties and responsibilities have been fulfilled for the 16U, Junior, and Girls’ 16U/Junior National Championships.

Compensation

Compensation of $2,500 each and reimbursed for ordinary job-related expenses (such as phone calls, postage, supplies, etc.) as well as reasonable travel expenses when representing USAW-OH at the 16U / Junior National Championships and the Ohio National Team training camps (Note: compensation is a state expense; all other expenses are team expenses).

2. In cooperation with the Executive Board of USAW-OH and the Junior and 16U Directors, the National Team Leaders will:

• Set up a procedure for selecting team members and replacements and notifying them of their responsibilities.

• Organize camp, transportation to and from the event,

accommodations, and assists the coaching staff in

submitting team rosters in compliance with National Event rules.

• Distribute and collect all necessary paperwork including entry forms, emergency releases, discipline policies and any other

pertinent information that might be necessary.

• Make arrangements for any team and individual pictures

that are taken.

• Select and order team gear and arrange for its distribution. 3. Primary liaison between wrestlers/parents and USA Wrestling – Ohio staff regarding all aspects of the Ohio National Team and the National Tournament. The National Team Leader must be prepared to answer questions and resolve issues on a daily basis beginning with the State Qualifying tournaments to a month following the National Tournament. 4. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership, the Board of Directors, and/or the Chairperson.

5. There will be a team leader for the following: Boys’ 16U , Boys’ Junior, and Girls’ 16U/ Junior National teams.

Duties and

Responsibilities

1. Works with the Tournament Director to ensure that there are an adequate number of mat officials assigned to work the tournament. 2. Gives preference to USWOA-licensed officials when securing the services of mat officials for the tournament.

3. Gets a list of all mat officials who work the tournament and ensures that they are compensated according to the USA

Wrestling - Ohio Compensation Policy for Mat and Operations Officials.

4. Works with the Head Operations Official to resolve all compensation disputes prior to completion of the tournament.

5. Gives a brief rules clinic before the beginning of Greco-Roman and freestyle competition (Note: This duty may be assigned to another mat official.).

6. Attempts to ensure that there are an adequate number of mat officials for the entire length of the tournament so that tournament operations are not adversely affected.

7. Resolves all disputes at the tournament regarding application of the competition rules of FILA and USA Wrestling.

8. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership, the Board of Directors, and/or the Chairperson. 9. Ensures that the list of mat officials that worked the USAW-OH tournament are sent to the Mat Officials Director.

1. Works with the Tournament Director to ensure that there are an adequate number of operations officials assigned to work the tournament (maximum of 3 operations officials).

2. Gives preference to USAW-OH-licensed officials when securing the services of operations officials for the tournament.

3. Gets a list of all operations officials who work the tournament and ensures that they are compensated according to the USA Wrestling - Ohio Compensation Policy for Mat and Operations Officials.

4. Works with the Head Mat Official to resolve all compensation disputes prior to completion of the tournament.

5. Provides the Tournament Director with the amount due for Officials Compensation.

6. Attempts to ensure that there are an adequate number of operations officials for the entire length of the tournament so that tournament operations are not adversely affected.

7. Ensures that all wrestlers are paired correctly according to the rules of FILA and USA Wrestling as modified by USAW-OH.

8. Resolves all disputes at the tournament regarding operations issues. 9. Ensures that all Tournament Withdrawal forms have been completed correctly.

10. . Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USAW-OH membership, the Board of Directors, and /or the Chairperson.
