1. Works to improve freestyle wrestling technique of the USAW-OH coaches and wrestlers. This includes assisting in the training and development of coaches, establishing a training curriculum, as well as sponsoring clinics at club and tournament to help promote Freestyle wrestling in Ohio. 2. Develop, in conjunction with the National Teams Director, a freestyle philosophy and training system that will improve freestyle wrestling in Ohio and can be implemented statewide to all coaches and wrestlers. 3. In conjunction with the National Teams Director help supervise all programs, events and teams that involve freestyle at all age groups, this includes the Women’s program. 4. Can attend clinics/ training camps (i.e., Colorado Springs) at the expense of USA Wrestling-Ohio for education purposes and or recommend candidates to attend USA Wrestling – Ohio coaching clinics to the Chairperson. 5. Prepares recommendation to the USAW-OH and the Board of Directors concerning matters affecting the freestyle wrestling needs and development. This includes input from the Coaches’ Council. Provides any necessary information to report on activities and make recommendations to the Coaches’ Council Director to share at the Executive Board meeting. 6. Reports to the USA Wrestling – Ohio and to the Board of Directors on the activities and accomplishments of the Freestyle teams at the 16Uand Junior levels. 7. Receives information and selects, with assistance of the National Teams Director, head coaches for the national dual and 16Uand Junior National teams for Chairperson approval prior to team selection. 8. Works with the selected head coach in the selection of a freestyle coaching staff. 9. Works with the selected head coach in the development of training camps, including selection of any guest clinicians. 10. Establishing methods for and working to ensure that the best possible freestyle teams are competing at national events. This includes contacting returning national champs and All-Americans to encourage their participation. 11. Oversees the selection of wrestlers for 14U, 16U and Junior National Teams, as well as establish a Petition committee with the assistance of the National Teams Director. 12. Represents USA Wrestling –Ohio at Freestyle Central regional tournament, the dual meet championships, and the 16U and Junior National Championships or assigns a replacement, approves by the State Chairperson, if unable to attend. Should also attend as many qualifiers as possible. 13. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the USA Wrestling - Ohio membership, the Board of Directors, and/or the Chairperson. 14. Identifies and submits items of interest to the website for publication; e.g., team photos, results, action shots, etc. 15. Participates in all disciplinary actions and hearings involving 16U and Junior Age division freestyle wrestlers. 16. Serves as a member of the Coaches’ Council and is in charge of appointing 2 members to the CC himself/ herself that will be aligned with the same term limit as the Freestyle Director. |
